Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys donating $100K to El Paso shooting victims

HOUSTON — Texas-based NFL teams are giving back to their community in the wake of the shooting at an El Paso, Texas, Walmart. The Aug. 3 shooting left 22 people dead and dozens injured.

KTRK reported that the Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys and NFL Foundation are donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to the El Paso Shooting Victims' Fund.

"In the wake of Saturday's tragic events in El Paso, Texas, the Houston Texans Foundation and the NFL Foundation will donate $100,000 to the El Paso Victims' Fund - El Paso Community Foundation to help those impacted," the Texans said in a statement Wednesday. "The Fund is working with the County of El Paso and the City of El Paso to aid affected families."

KTVT reported the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation and the Dallas Cowboys committed $50,000 to the fund.

"Our hearts and support are with the entire El Paso community and especially with the families of the victims of this very tragic event,"  Cowboys executive Charlotte Anderson said in a statement, according to NFL.com. "Our organization has long enjoyed a wonderful following from the people of El Paso, and our wish is that so many others in Texas and around the country will be inspired to assist the loved ones who are grieving."

NFL.com reported that the NFL Foundation will also donate $150,000 to benefit the victims.
